Managing Oneself by Peter F. Drucker

Hello, how are you? I hope you have a good day, and I am glad you are here. Today I’m going to talk about Managing Oneself by Peter F. Drucker. This is one of the shortest books I’ve ever read. It only has 58 pages, but every page has a gold nugget hidden in it. This book, as you can guess from the name, is about managing yourself. What do you have to do and how to do it, so you can live the best life you can live.

The 1st chapter in the book talks about different ways of learning: reader, listener, writer etc. What this book advises you is to find out your way of learning. The author mentions that you need to discover this yourself, and don’t follow the way the schools are doing the teaching. Every person is different.

The 2nd chapter talks about your personality in a social environment. Are you a people person or a loner? Again, you need to answer this question. If you are a loner and work in a networking environment, you are not going to like it. If you are a people person, working is a small office is going to make you sad. In addition, if you are a people person, you need to ask yourself what type of relationships you like to have with people. All this information is going to help you to decide what career or path you want to take in life

Another question that this book advises you to find the answer at is whether you like making decisions, or you just give advice. In my opinion, this is a very good question, for it answers what position you would like. If you like making decisions, maybe you should go for a position where you are required to be a leader. If you don’t like making decisions, maybe being a simple employee is not such a bad idea.

Last but not least, Managing Oneself by Peter F. Drucker says it’s very important to know your strengths and improve them. If you don’t know what you are good at, you are not going to know in what domain you want to work. Find your strengths and improve them to the master level. Only when you do this, you can think about mastering some other skill or strength as well, but in life, you should only stick with what you are best at.

Managing Oneself by Peter F. Drucker is an amazing book if you want to learn how to make goals. I would highly recommend you read the book, for there is much more information in this book, that I did not talk about and that is very helpful to your career life.

The Instant Millionaire: A Tale of Wisdom and Health by Mark Fisher

Hello everyone! The book I’m going to talk about today is one of the most inspiring books I’ve read. It’s not my favorite book, but it’s definitely in the top 5. If you want to find out more about my favorite book, Conversation with God by Neal Donald Walsch, you can check my post from last week. Enough with the introduction now, let’s get to today’s book

The Instant Millionaire: A Tale of Wisdom and Wealth is a book for people that want more from their life. This book talks about the ways of reaching your goals and how to get over the stage in life when you feel stuck or feel like you are slowly going down. The story begins with a man in his 30’s that is tired of working his 9-5 job, where he doesn’t earn enough money. This man talks with his uncle, the owner of the company he works for, and asks for advice. The uncle tells him about a millionaire, that is known for changing people for better in one night. Our protagonist is desperate to find this millionaire so, his uncle writes him a letter of introduction. Our protagonist gets a little confused on the way to meeting the millionaire, for the letter of introduction was just a blank piece of paper. After some moments of confusion, and uncertainty the man finally meets the Millionaire. Now, this is the part where the book really starts. We have a little bit of introduction at the beginning. The amazing part about this book is that it starts with the description of our main character, and along the book, we see the way he changes in mentality and actions.

The 1st lesson the millionaire shares is the importance of writing down your goals. He teaches that by making our protagonist write a cheque of 25000$ to the millionaire in exchange for a blank piece of paper. It sounds like a bad deal, but on that blank piece of paper, the millionaire asks the man to write down how much he would want to earn yearly. The millionaire explains that the amount written of the paper is the value you think you have. If you want to make 50000$ a year, that means that’s how much you consider you are worth.

The 2nd lesson learned in this book is the power of words. Now, our main character did not believe in the power of words, thus the millionaire gave him a simple task. The millionaire asks our protagonist to enter in his office to look for a booklet. When our protagonist gets in the office he sees a computer screen that keeps blinking the words: “YOU HAVE ONE HOUR TO LEAVE”. Our protagonist got scared and panicked. When the millionaire enters his office he asks the man why did he got scared when he read those words if he did not believe in the power of words. There was no answer from the protagonist, for he realized he is influenced by them

These 2 main lessons and a few other smaller ones led to the greatest discovery that our protagonist makes. He realizes, with the help of the millionaire, that all his actions are led by the unconscious part of his mind. The millionaire finally tells the protagonist that he can change that unconscious part of his brain, but it takes time and work.

The book has a very unexpected and surprising end, but I don’t want to spoil it in this blog in case anyone will decide to read this book. All I am going to say about the end is that the young man has made his million. Not only that, but he shared the secret of how to become a millionaire by writing this book. For our protagonist and the author of this book are the same person, Mark Fisher.

“Your conscious can be influenced at will; it is as easy as child’s play. And once it has been influenced in the way you want it to be, you will be able to obtain exactly what you want out of life” – Mark Fisher: The Instant Millionaire

“Always remember that at certain heights there are no clouds. If there are clouds in your life, it’s because your soul hasn’t soared high enough.” – Mark Fisher: The Instant Millionaire

Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful day

Conversation with God by Neal Donald Walsch

Conversation with God by Neal Donald Walsh is my favourite book of all time. I've read dozens of books, but nothing compares with this one. Despite its name, Conversation with God is not a religious book. It's more about philosophy, spiritual self-development. The whole book is a conversation between the author and God, where the author asks God the most asked questions about life like what's the meaning of life, how you should live your life, what's right and what's wrong and many more. Conversation with God approaches all the aspects of life, and all of its misunderstanding. Once you finish the book you just feel like you can do everything you want to. It's eye-opening. Even though it a book more about philosophy, it's very easy to read. The language used is simple, the structure of the sentences is short, and he explains the same ideas in different ways making sure you understand what the book is about. Conversation with God is only a 210 pages book and can be read in less than a day if you are an average reader. One of the most important lessons I learned in this book is that all you do in life: the words you use, your thoughts and deeds are controlled mainly by 2 emotions, love and fear. Once you understand this, you understand why you are living the life you live, and how you can change your life for better. Another great idea this book talks about is that life is creation, not discovery. What this means is that everything we did, do and will do is our choice, and it could have been different. Most people go through life looking for something, but after you read this book, you'll see that you need to go through life creating that something. Conversation with god is the book that proves and demonstrates why you can be whatever you want to be in this life. In my opinion, if you are a fan of this type of books, and even if you are not, it's a MUST READ. It's the most inspiring book I’ve read, and it's always a pleasure to open it from time to time to read it again, just as a reminder about how beautiful life can be.

"Life will take off for you then, when you chose for it to" - Neal Donald Walsch, Conversation with God

A little bit about me

Hello everyone, my name is Claudiu, and I am starting a new hobby. Every week i'm going to try to post a new book review. I read at least 2 books each week, and I'm going to pick the one that I find the most interesting, and tell you a little bit about it. My goal is to share with you the most useful books on different topics like psychology, philosophy and self-development. I might post some books that are just for when you want to relax, not neceseary learn something or develop a skill. At the end of every review i'm going to share with you a quote or two from the book that I find the most interesting. I'm only at the begginning, so every constructive criticism is welcome :) . This being said, I hope you will enjoy my reviews and hopefully, you'll read some of these books as well.

I wish you a wonderful day!
